GearCheque is an unapologetic attempt to take something I am truly passionate about, and use it as an opportunity to help others, feeding my gear habit in the process. How can adventure gear be a passion? An addiction even? Honestly, if you’re asking that you might be lost. I have too many hobbies, too much gear, not enough storage space, and not enough time. I am a lawyer by day and a weekend warrior with pursuits that range from adventure racing and multisport events, with all of the trail running, bicycle riding, and paddling that that entails, to scuba diving, spearfishing, and hunting.

Thanks to self-employment, I manage to balance a stressful (but rewarding) career with spending as much time in nature as I can. I am incredibly lucky to live where I live, with easy access to great trails for hiking and trail-running. A little further afield I have beautiful back-country to explore, via river, established trails and less worn paths. We have an amazing network of backcountry shelters which range in comfort significantly.

Because of my career, I gravitate to missions that are designed to move fast across country - fastpacking, bike packing, trail running, mountain biking, kayaking and packrafting get me into some amazing parts of the world. My gear demands are high and my gear stash is legendary. I am a self-confessed gear junkie hoping to find a way to support my habit and help other junkies in the process.
